Liverpool came from behind to beat Brentford 2-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday, October 17, keeping themselves in touch with the Premier League’s top four.

Brentford strike first

Brentford made the better start to a tight first half and went in front just before the break. Keane Lewis-Potter scored in the 44th minute to give the home side a 1-0 lead at half-time and leave Liverpool with plenty to think about in the dressing room.

Munoz and Isak turn it around

Liverpool raised the tempo after the restart and controlled the ball, finishing with around 60% possession. The equaliser arrived in the 62nd minute, when Victor Munoz finished a move set up by Florian Wirtz. Eight minutes later, Alexander Isak scored what proved to be the winner, the British-record signing showing why Liverpool invested so heavily in him in 2025.

Brentford pushed for a late equaliser, but Liverpool held firm through the closing stages and stoppage time to take all three points.

What it means

The win moved Liverpool up to 12 points from seven matches, inside the top five. Brentford, who have started the season well, stay on 10 points. The result also keeps pressure on the clubs above Liverpool, with leaders Manchester City and second-placed Arsenal setting the pace.
